Enduring design begins with a deep respect for nature.

WESKetch designed Cold Brook Farm—a 2.5‑acre zero‑energy homestead—so the longest part of the roof on both the house and the barn faces south.

This orientation enables seventy‑one 375‑watt solar panels to operate at peak efficiency, generating all of the home’s energy needs, including roughly 30,000 miles of electric‑vehicle driving each year.

Throughout the project, our North Star was to seamlessly integrate the built environment with the natural landscape. The homestead reduces the home's carbon footprint while enhancing the biodiversity and long‑term health of the terrain.

In this loft, we organized the living space so that sightlines to the TV feel effortless, whether it’s a midweek match or a quiet movie night. An open connection to the kitchen means no one misses the key moments, and seating can subtly expand to accommodate more people.

Large sliding glass doors lead to a secluded, terraced patio, extending the experience beyond the living room so the home can shift easily from focused viewing to relaxed conversation as the day unfolds.

Happy Presidents' Day!

To commemorate the holiday, we’re sharing this striking view of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial.

Located on Six Grandfathers Mountain in South Dakota, it was carved between 1927 and 1941 by sculptor Gutzon Borglum and more than 400 workers to represent the first 150 years of American history. It features 60-foot-tall likenesses of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.

Set on a broad rural site in New Jersey, this modern farmhouse renovation transforms an existing home into a year-round retreat for gathering, wellness, and indoor–outdoor living.

From the rear, the new central living pavilion and vaulted pool house open wide to the terrace and lawn, turning the property into a resort-like destination even in the heart of winter.

Once a modest Victorian, this bayside home had weathered decades of salt air and sun. Originally built at the turn of the 19th century, WESKetch renewed its structure and spirit through a renovation and addition that honor its past while adding new components that seamlessly blend with the historical elements of the residence.

Nestled into the natural landscape of Bernardsville, Cider Barn is a multilevel timber-frame structure that serves as both a workspace and a welcoming family retreat.

Its white exterior stone veneer plays against a copper roof, while the window-lined linear cupola is designed to capture natural light throughout the day.

From everyday routines to holiday gatherings, this modern farmhouse-style barn was conceived as a backdrop for connection, comfort, and celebration. The multi-level design, complete with main level, upper loft, and full basement, allows the barn to flex easily between work, play, and entertaining.

[LASTING LEGACY]

The WESKetch team is renowned for its unparalleled expertise in historic home preservation.

Our craftsmanship is on full display at this stately Neo-Classical estate in Bernardsville. Originally built in 1896 by the renowned architect George Post, the home was renovated by WESKetch more than a century later.

Phase one focused on restoring and renovating the main residence, including the front and rear elevations.

Phase two introduced a series of new indoor and outdoor living spaces, carefully integrated with the original architecture.

The original home was adorned with covered porches and balconies—a feature common in Post's work. The first task of the renovation was to expand the kitchen area by adding a glass-roofed solarium directly adjacent to the newly remodeled cooking space. This light-filled addition accommodates both informal family gatherings and small-scale entertaining. The room opens onto a stone terrace covered with a natural cedar trellis, accessed through three 8-foot-high timber French doors.

[HISTORIC HOME PRESERVATION] WESKetch is committed to maintaining the historic integrity of a home while updating its functionality and features.

Our expertise is showcased at this stately Neo-Classical estate in Bernardsville. Originally built in 1896 by the renowned architect George Post, it had barely survived a century of neglect before being rescued and given a new lease of life by its new owners.

To achieve this transformation, WESKetch undertook an ambitious renovation, carefully organized into two phases.

Phase one concentrated on restoring and renovating the main residence, including the front and rear elevations.

Phase two introduced a series of new indoor and outdoor living spaces, carefully integrated with the original architecture, including a stable-style carriage house designed to accommodate six vehicles. This element was thoughtfuly detailed to create the illusion and scale of a historic carriage house.
